Local Elections 2019 – candidate lists and polling card information

The list of candidates nominated for the local, town and parish council elections on Thursday, 2 May has been published.

The list of all candidates can be found on East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s website – www.eastriding.gov.uk/elections2019

The first wave of poll cards have already been sent out to residents on the electoral register and eligible to vote with the second wave due to be sent out later this month.

But voters should not worry if, for whatever reason, they don’t have a poll card as they do not need one in order to vote.

Caroline Lacey, returning officer, said: “Many people still think they need a poll card in order to vote on Thursday, 2 May but that is not the case.

“So I’d like to reassure people who are on the electoral register and who may not receive a poll card not to panic as they will still be able to cast their vote without out it.”

Residents who wish to vote in the elections and are not already on the electoral register have until 11.59pm on Friday, 12 April to register.

People already on the electoral register and who completed household enquiry forms which were sent out last year, do not need to register again.

Registration is quick and easy and can be done online. An electoral registration form can be found and completed online via the East Riding of Yorkshire Council website – www.eastriding.gov.uk/elections2019 or at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

People who are already on the electoral register but are unable to get to their polling station on Thursday, 2 May are able to vote by post.

An application form can also be found on the council’s website – www.eastriding.gov.uk/elections2019 and the closing date for a postal application is 5pm on Monday, 15 April.

People can also apply for a proxy vote and the application form can be found at www.eastriding.gov.uk/elections2019 and the deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April.
