Has a Neighbourhood Development Plan been prepared for Pocklington?

No, but Pocklington Town Council has set up a Steering Group to guide the production of a neighbourhood plan and work is well advanced with support from a planning consultant.  A survey of the local community was carried out in 2019 and a Town Character Assessment has also been produced.  The survey results and character assessment along with further information on the progress of the Pocklington neighbourhood plan are available on Pocklington Town Council's website. 

How can I get involved with the Pocklington Neighbourhood Development Plan?

Pocklington Town Council will lead the preparation of their Neighbourhood Development Plan with support from East Riding of Yorkshire Council. If you are interested in being involved you should contact the parish council in the first instance.

Will the Pocklington Neighbourhood Development Plan look to allocate sites for development?

The exact scope of the Pocklington Neighbourhood Development Plan has yet to be finalised though the parish council have not expressed a wish to consider allocating sites for development at this time. 

When was the Pocklington neighbourhood area designated?

The Pocklington neighbourhood area was formally designated at the council meeting on 18 June 2014. This followed a recommendation by the cabinet on 22 April 2014 after a period of public consultation.

Was there any consultationon the Pocklington neighbourhood area application?

Yes. A six week consultation on the proposed Pocklington neighbourhood area was held between 13 January and 24 February 2014 so that people living, working and carrying out business in Pocklington could let us know their views on the proposed area. 

The majority of respondents were supportive of designating the proposed boundary as a neighbourhood area. The comments received to the consultation can be found in Appendix B of the Cabinet report, available to download above.
