Adopted conservation area appraisals
The East Riding of Yorkshire Local Planning Authority has 106 adopted Conservation Areas. All of the areas have adopted appraisal documents and can be downloaded via the below links.
The adopted Appraisals and Management Plans will be used as background documents in support of the development plan and as a material consideration in the determination of relevant planning applications.
The Authority are also in the process of re-appraising its Conservation Areas with details of its recently adopted Appraisal, current work schedule for re-appraisal of existing areas and proposals for the adoption of new areas outlined below:-
Recently Adopted Appraisal Documents and Boundary Amendments
Following on from consultation during 2021, on the 18 January 2022, the following new appraisal documents were adopted for the Conservation Areas at:-
- Brantingham
- Ellerker
- Halsham
- Ottringham
Boundary amendments to the designated areas were also adopted for the Conservation Areas at:-
- Ellerker
- Ottringham

Live Public Consultations
As a part of the Authority's ongoing work programme, re-appraisal work has been completed at Atwick, North Cave and Skidby Conservation Areas. Public consultation on the adoption of the updated appraisal documents and boundary amendments will commence on the 15 April 2022. Details of the documents and changes which will be consulted on are below:-

Post Consultation
Following the consideration of the consultation feedback and completion of relevant amendments, the draft Appraisal Documents and proposed boundary amendments will be consideration for adoption by the Authority during late 2022. The updated Appraisal Documents and designated areas will be approved by the Authority’s Cabinet. Re-adopted appraisals and boundary changes will be advertised by Public Notices and Letters, and listed on the Authority’s website.
2022 Schedule of Work
During the first half of 2022, the following areas are on the current work schedule to be re-appraised:-
- Allerthorpe
- Barmby Moore
- Bishop Burton
- Cottingham
- Goole
- Hedon
- Tibthorpe
- West Ella
Public consultation on the update Appraisal Documents and proposed boundary amendments will take place during the second half of 2022.
New Conservation Areas
Re-appraisal work is currently undertaken for the adoption of new Conservation Areas at the following locations:-
- Goole (west)
- Harpham
- Yokefleet
Public consultation on areas progressed for formal adoption will take place during late 2022.
