How quickly do you respond to a report?

This depends on how serious the defect is. We make every effort to inspect a bridge issue within 24 hours of it being reported so we can determine the action required. Where necessary, we will make the bridge safe until a repair can be carried out.

We aim to address urgent defects within 24 hours. For all other issues, we aim to respond within 28 working days. These timescales depend on approval from any other organisations, such as a utility company, who may have pipes or cables, for example, near the bridge.

How will I know if a bridge cannot be used due to damage or repair work?

Bridge closures and roadworks can be found on the Roadworks.org website.

We also put temporary diversion road signs in place in the area.

How can I make an insurance claim?

You can send a letter stating that you wish to make a claim for damages to either yourself or your property to the address below:

We will send you a form to fill in and return. Our loss adjustors will use the information you provide to make a decision on your case.

What are the operation hours of Boothferry Bridge?

The bridge is available for operation at all times, although you must book with at least 24 hours’ notice if you wish to use it outside of the following standard hours:

Standard hours

Two hours either side of High Tide (ABP Tide Tables, Goole Dock) within the normal working hours:

• Monday to Friday, 6am - 10pm
  
• Saturday and Sunday, 8am - 8pm 

Bridge opening is free of charge and you do not need to book.

Out of hours

You need to book to open the bridge at any time outside of the above core working hours (including Christmas Day). 

There is a £100 charge for this service. If you decide to cancel less than 12 hours before the booked time, the full charge will be payable.
