EYPCF and FISH SENDIASS Careers Event 2018

For young people with additional needs aged 14 – 25 and their parent carers.

This year’s careers event will focus on the opportunities available for young people when they have left school.
•    The event will provide you with a chance to gain information about work experience, employment, further education, activities and many more services available to young people with additional needs.
•    It is a chance to meet other parent carers and young people and gather information about services available to your family and how they can support you.
•    An opportunity to enjoy a relaxed day.
Light refreshments will be provided, including tea, coffee and soft drinks.

 Autism Awareness Courses 

Seminars are open to all parents and professional/practitioners.
Courses are for those parents whose child has a diagnosis. Please note that it is expected that parents attend the first course - Exploring Autism Course.

Understanding Autism Seminar

The seminar is open to families and practitioners who would like to know more about Autism Spectrum Conditions, including;
    What is Autism?
    How Autism affects social communication
    How sensory differences can affect a person with Autism
    Strategies to support people with Autism.

SEND Knowledge, Information and Support workshop:                              
The workshop will deliver information about the SEND process from early SEN support right through to the completion of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and all the steps around identification and assessment.
Come along, enjoy a lovely lunch and chat to other parent/carers with similar experiences. We will also hold a prize draw for a day pass to the Spa.

Legal Awareness Sessions - half hour awareness sessions covering: Trusts, Wills and Power of Attorney with time at the end of each session for parents to have a  1:1 with a solicitor.

Single Route of Redress – National Trial - Extending Powers of the First-tier Tribunal ( SEND) - From 3 April 2018

The Government are extending the powers of the First-tier Tribunal (SEND), sometimes referred to as the ‘SEND Tribunal’, to make non-binding recommendations about the health and social care aspects of Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans as part of a two-year trial. The trial will apply to decisions made or EHC plans issued/amended from 3 April 2018
