Castaway Youth Theatre
Description
Castaway Youth Theatre is a great opportunity for young people to have fun and make friends, gaining confidence and achievement from making and performing their own drama, music and film.
These weekly sessions are delivered by professional artists for young people to explore theatre, music and other art forms in weekly sessions and 2 or 3 day holiday projects. Members can choose to perform in shows, sometimes with Castaway Music Theatre, and to work towards Arts Awards (optional). Specialist support and some transport is available for full participation and access, including additional / complex needs. Funded by BBC Children in Need.

Self referral
To access the service, following taster visits and initial contact, completion of a membership form outlining support needs is required, with an annual membership fee of £10.
Who this service is for
Castaway is open to anyone with a learning / physical disability, including complex disability, sensory impairment or autistic spectrum condition.  No diagnosis needed. 
Young people and their families / carers are welcome to come and meet us any time.

Castaway is a registered charity accredited by ERCVYS and run by experienced education and arts professionals. 
Castaway youth provision is accredited by East Riding through ERCVYS.
Castaway Goole is a registered provider of day opportunities for East Riding and North Yorkshire adult services.
Castaway Youth Theatre is funded by BBC Children in Need.


Training acquired to support children and young people with SEND and their families
All activities are delivered by professional artists who are trained in working with people with additional needs, with specialist support workers.
All staff receive regular training and updates for supporting young people with SEND in house and via East Riding training offers. All leaders have teaching and /or leader training qualifications.
Staff / volunteers are supported by experienced managers and receive specific support for communication and learning needs, multi-sensory approaches, safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour management.

Mondays (term time only) 4.15pm - 6.00pm  
Cost of service and payment options
After a series of free taster sessions, there’s an annual membership fee of £10 covering all Castaway activities and each group is £3 per session. 
(Fees can be subsidised / waived for those with limited financial resources)

Arts Awards
Castaway Goole Music Theatre offers a range of high quality arts, music, creative and performing opportunities for young people up to age 25 and adults with learning disabilities working alongside professional artists.

Castaway Goole is a 2014-15 Arts Award Good Practice Centre. Young people in our groups can opt to work towards Trinity Arts Awards at Discover, Explore, Bronze or Silver levels, gaining accreditation on the National Qualifications Framework. http://www.artsaward.org.uk  We host Arts Awards moderations.
