Description

East Riding of Yorkshire Council employs an Exclusion and Reintegration Officer to offer guidance on all matters relating to school exclusion.

This officer is the lead professional providing advice and challenge to Head teachers, school staff, governors and colleagues in relation to the statutory framework for exclusions. If required they also provide advice on the legal process to parents of a child who has been excluded.

This officer also ensures that the local authority is discharging its statutory duties in relation to exclusions, and represents the local authority at Governors Discipline Hearings, Independent Review Panels, in line with the ‘Exclusion from maintained schools, academies and pupil referral units in England statutory guidance September 2017’

This officer works in partnership with schools and families across the county to promote a swift and appropriate return to education following a permanent exclusion.
